Pastoral Care and Student Wellbeing Seminar

Everyone in a school has a role to play in supporting the wellbeing of students. The term ‘student wellbeing’ includes the physical, mental and emotional, social and spiritual dimensions of a student’s health. New Zealand and international research show that student wellbeing, or a lack of it, has a clear influence on student mental health and learning.

When we talk about pastoral care of students we refer to the shared responsibility of all staff and adults in the school community, including parents. Pastoral role is to guide, enable and empower students to use good information to make well-considered positive choices for themselves, educationally and in life.

The seminar will focus on these two important aspects of students’ life at school and it aims to share best practices and examples to be implemented.

Target Audience: Board Members, Heads/Principals, Business Managers, HR Managers, Senior Managers with responsibilities in the pastoral care area.
